2. Learn about the amenities and activities.
Visit an assisted living facility and learn about the various amenities and other activities that take place throughout the week. The more you know about these things, the easier it’s going to be for you to convince your mother to at least consider the prospect of moving into this new community.
3. Enlist support.
Talk to other family members, friends, and even neighbors. When you enlist the support of other people, your mother may be more likely to pay attention to the things you have to say. When she realizes it’s more than just you saying these things, she may take a closer look at the viability of this as a reasonable solution to keep her safe and maintain a high quality of life into the future.
4. Talk about issues she’s having at home.
If you notice your mother’s safety is compromised, she’s having trouble doing things, such as the laundry or keeping her home clean and safe, bring these things up. She might not want to talk about them or admit she has issues, but she won’t be able to deny herself for long.
